Today's Puppy Class was very different from last weeks.
First, we arrived only five minutes before the start of class. We had to park at the very far end of the parking lot and, without C/T, and wearing his Sensible harness, Landry walked on a BEAUTIFUL Lazy Leash all the way into the classroom.
The same puppies were there this week, with the addition of two more. We all seemed to take the same seats in the same location of the room. No x-pens w/sheets were needed today. Landry's tail was high. "Oh, this place!"
After 40 minutes he lost his attention span and stopped taking treats. Not entirely, but usually. He was still able to Down on cue onto the towel. I had brought his chew toy. When I asked him to Down, he did. And was content chewing on the rawhide.
He was unable to respond to the "kissy noise" or to his name. He WAS able to watch other dogs and not react. One of the exercises was to walk toward and nose touch another dog (on leash!) and then be lured to return to the owner.
The second exercise was accepting food while a stranger touched him. Landry was not comfortable with this exercise.
The third and final exercise of the day was greeting and playing with other puppies in an x-pen. Landry was great and played with Kippy, a pit bull mix puppy, and then with Zoe, a larger black puppy of unknown parentage.
An hour and a half of Puppy Class challenges Landry's comfort level and his threshold. However, he is much improved over last week. Dale arrived at at the end of the class. It was a full day for Landry today.
